The mission of Labrador Retriever Rescue Indiana is to reduce the euthanasia rate for purebred Labradors and Labrador mixes in high-kill shelters. They do so by spaying and neutering these dogs and by educating dog owners about responsible dog ownership and heartworm prevention. The organization is a non-profit, so all operational funds are obtained through adoption fees, donations, and various fundraisers.

The Indy Humane Animal Sanctuary provides a variety of community services including pet surrender services, a pet loss support group, and low-cost spay/neuter programs. Many of the animals are placed in foster homes before they are adopted. A large portion of their work is volunteer-based, so it’s important to note that the animals are in foster homes before being adopted. It takes a village to care for rescued animals, and Indy Humane is a registered nonprofit that consists of over 12 volunteer staff.
