The Dachshund Rescue of South Florida is a foster-based, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing dachshunds in need and finding them forever homes. DRSF is headed by Pam Weiner, who first got involved with the organization 10 years ago. She took over as president in 2014, and the group has since grown to over 500 dogs and counting. The Doxie Dash, a dog-friendly event held in Miami, was a hit Sunday. Hundreds of dogs ran the 2.6-mile course on the waterfront lawn. More than 70 spectators came out to watch the run, and Dachshund Rescue of South Florida set up a smelling station where guests could smell chicken bones, peanut butter, and smelly socks.
