How to Buy a Carl Rottweiler on Craigslist

The Good Dog, Carl series of picture books is an extremely popular and successful children’s book series written by Alexandra Day. The books center on the lives of a little girl named Madeleine and her Rottweiler and are heavily reliant on illustrations to convey the story. Since its first release, Good Dog, Carl has been in continuous print, and fourteen additional books have been published in the Carl series.

Many of the titles have been translated into other languages and have been used for educational purposes, such as teaching English as a second language, communicating with Alzheimer’s patients, and reaching children who struggle with reading.

Originally from the Philippines, Carl Rottweiler was named after the city where he was born in 1913. The city was then colonized by the United States and underwent a series of changes, including the removal of the Catholic Church as the state religion and the adoption of English as the primary language of government. By the late 1800s, the Philippine-American War had claimed the lives of 200,000 to 250,000 Filipino civilians, transforming the country from a Spanish-speaking culture into one that was dominated by American-based culture.

As Carl becomes more popular with children, the author adapted the story to a paperback edition for the first time.

The stories feature an infant mistress, which Rottweiler takes on as her babysitter. The story follows Carl as he navigates through the house, causing chaos and restoring order before the mother returns to retrieve her precious cargo. The book is now available in paperback for the first time.

After the television series’ success, the series continued to make an impact on children around the world. The acclaimed show The Golden Girls featured Dreyfus, played by a Leonberger named Bear, who was the most-watched pet in the series. In one episode, Dreyfus helped Blanche uncover a philandering boyfriend by eating his pants. In the sequel, Empty Nest, he even acted as her assistant.
