Cane Corso Mastiff

The Cane Corso Mastiff Dog

Welcome to Canine Rescue. ” rescuing” is the operative word in the title. We take special care in rescuing Cane Corso Mastiff dogs. This is not an easy task. Sometimes we have to adopt them because there are not enough good homes for them.

The Mastiff, or Cane Corso as it is also called, is one of the larger breeds of dogs and was originally bred in Italy as a fighting dog. They were bred to fight and excel at that task. They are intelligent, energetic, loyal, and happy dogs. They are loving and make great companions for children and adults. They need lots of room to run, play and run some more.

In the hands of a good owner, the Mastiff can be a wonderful companion.

However, in its natural environment, the Mastiff is the most dominant. Because of this, when adopting or buying one from the shelter, make sure you know what you are getting yourself into!

One thing that must be considered when adopting a Cane Corso Mastiff is the cost of caring for him or her. These dogs cost a lot to train and raise. If you are going to commit to caring for one of these dogs long term, then be prepared to spend a lot of money. There are many sources on the Internet where you can get a list of local rescue organizations that have Cane Corso’s available for adoption.

There are some cost-saving steps that you can take if you’re going to adopt a Cane, Corso.

The first one is to find a vet that you trust, but make sure they are fully licensed to practice. Second, there are usually low-cost spas and pet stores in your area that give free grooming for your dog. Finally, you should check with your local Small Animal Hospital. Many times they will have these animals in their spares wing and cost less than a breeder would charge.

Now that you know how to prepare, you need to do the research. Find out about the history of the Cane Corso Mastiff, and find out what kind of behavior he exhibits around other dogs. You need to know how much training he has already had. This information is usually not listed on the breeder’s site. You can usually ask the breeder about this.

Look at the temperament of the Cane Corso as well. Is he a real sweetie or does he tend to be aggressive?

Does he get along with other dogs? Is he a healthy dog or one that has a few health problems? Cane Corso mixes are not ideal pets for most families, but some do love the small dog.

If you have found a good cane corso it will be a wonderful pet. Just be sure you are ready to commit to all of his care. He can become a very expensive pet if you decide to move forward with him and his owner without enough knowledge and time to devote to him. There is plenty of information available on the internet, so spend some time reading.

You may choose to adopt the corso as a purebred for the puppy. This would give you several advantages over other potential owners. The purebred is likely to have been raised in a home where there were no other dogs in the house and the mother has been bred to be good with other dogs. You also want to make sure the breeder is experienced in raising and working with cane corso mamas. He needs to know how to handle them safely and effectively.

Training your dog to use the crate is very important.

You do not want the corso going to the bathroom on your floor because he is too excited to use the crate. Crate training will take some time but the outcome will be well worth it. He will learn that it is not acceptable to use your floors as a bathroom after he is house trained.

The cane corso puppy must be socialized early. He needs to see his family member or other dogs for at least two hours every day. You want to get him used to people and other dogs. The more time you can spend the better it will be.

A Cane Corso Mastiff dog needs to be exercised frequently. He does not need to go for long walks, but he does need to be on a leash at all times. If he is not used to being around people he may become nervous and scared. Do not be afraid to have him sit in front of you when you take a couple of minutes to pet and stroke him and tell him he is your best friend.
