American Shafier Terrier

American Shafier Terrier Information

The American Shorthair Terrier is one of the most popular dog breeds today. The Shorthair is a cross between the Standard and Toy Terriers. In the early 20th century, Shorthairs were used as the official down-payment for litter puppies, and the fact that they were not as trainable as their Toy Terrier counterparts were their greatest downfall. The Shorthairs were also often prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, which could result in loss of use of the leg joints. Because of these undesirable characteristics, the Shorthair Terrier breed was banned from use in the show ring and prohibited from competition. Though still popular in the United States, the Shorthair is not allowed to be bred as a dog in most other countries of the world.

Since it has been banned from the ring, the Shorthair Terrier has been sold as a toy. Toy Shorthairs is popular with puppy buyers because they cost less than purebred Shorthairs. Some of the most popular toy dogs are Bratz and Zumba, which are in the Bratz dolls franchise. Toy Shorthairs is more of a toy and more of a curiosity than a beloved dog breed. They have a shorter life span than Shorthairs and a shorter lifespan as well. They do, however, make great companions and family dogs.

American Shorthair Terriers is basically the same as Toy Shorthairs. They are even found in the same colors. However, there are some differences in body structure and weight. Toy Shorthairs tend to have a shorter coat and some will have red paws while others will have brown or black toes. There are Toy Shorthairs that have yellow eyes and those that have blue or green eyes. Most Toy Shorthairs also has floppy ears.

The American Shafier Terrier is a great breed for those families that have children that are just starting to learn how to control their anger. When a dog is properly socialized and trained, the Shafier will be able to calm children that are easily angered and not able to express themselves verbally. When this happens to a child, it can lead to a physical confrontation with a parent or other member of the family. This type of scenario would not be avoided when a Shafier Terrier was owned by a responsible adult dog owner.

The American Shafier Terrier is not suited for those families that have pets and small children at home. Because of its low energy level, the American Shafier Terrier needs time to be alone.
