Unfortunately, this wonderful breed was almost completely wiped out in the great depression of the 1930s because there was too much of it in the market for sale. Because of this, the American Kennel Club deemed it to be a dangerous breed and placed it on the list of breeds that were not to be used.

    I have not yet begun to talk about the kindness that the dogs have shown me during my travels. I have been touched by their kind natures, their devotion to their owners, their loyalty, their wonderful chipping speed, and their amiable disposition. In addition, they are wonderful companions for the elderly and extremely good with children.

    I researched on the internet for some possible golden retriever rescues and was surprised to see that the American Kennel Club had listed the Frenchies as a purebred rescue group. There were about ten of these golden retrievers available at that point and I was fortunate enough to be able to get mine. They make an excellent addition to any family and make great family pets.
