The most common health problem associated with this breed is joint pain and inflammation. The most common joint problem found among these Chihuahuas is patellar luxation, which affects the kneecap. It is characterized by severe pain that occurs at the end of the kneecap, particularly at the front. Patellar luxation is also called “patellar arthralgia”. It usually occurs among pups during their first 12 months or so and then continues for the next year and a half.
Your pet Chihuahua should have no history of worms or other infections in his past.
If your dog has been exposed to worms in the past, be sure to inform your vet. Some worms found in Chihuahuas are tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms.
