Blue Dachshunds are a solid, sturdy breed that is known for their endurance. They have high levels of activity and live for an average of twelve to fifteen years. The most noticeable patterns are the different shades of black. The majority of the dogs have black-colored coats that range from platinum blond to chocolate color. However, many have other colors. For those interested in finding a blue dachshund dog with other colors, the best way to check is to look at the breeding records of the dog to be bred.

Because blue dachshunds are known to be one of the few dogs in which it is possible to find the black coat colors mixed, it is also very common to find a blue dachshund with white, platinum, or yellow markings. It is even possible to locate blue dachshund puppies that have red markings along with the white and platinum or yellow coats.

While some blue dachshunds are known to be solid black, others may be a shade or two lighter. It should be noted that while the white coat colors mixed in blue dachshunds are rare, there are still some with such markings. For example, there may be a blue dachshund that is solid black with some red markings.

Another thing to take into consideration is the price tag.

While this is not a concern for every owner, it should be taken into account when purchasing one of these dogs. Blue Dachshund puppies cost more than the average breed.
