The LRCP is home to one of the most prestigious labrador dog shows in the country. They have over 1,200 top-rated Labs competing at their annual shows. The Westminster Kennel Club will also be in attendance, which makes this event one of the most highly-regarded single-breed dogs shows in the world. Moreover, the owners of Original Championship Stock Labrador Retrievers testified under oath under penalty of perjury that they would not sell their dogs without the championship stock.

While these lawsuits are not against the Labrador Retriever Club of Potomac, it is an attempt by the AKC to prevent the breed from becoming a national champion.

To win a championship, a dog must meet the AKC standard for the breed and compete in conformation events. As a result, they are much more expensive than non-stock Labrador Retrievers.

The spring show is the largest single breed specialty in the world. Typically, it attracts more than 2,000 entries and is known by dog fanciers throughout the world.
