Shelby DeYoung Curlee, of New Jersey, passed away on June 23, 2021. Born on August 23, 1952, she was a successful businesswoman who owned Cycle South Bicycle Shop. She was active with getting Along Dachshund Rescue and was an avid gardener. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children and her beloved Dachshund, Twinkie. She is greatly missed by all who knew her.

The get along Dachshund Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit corporation with the primary goal of saving dachshunds in shelters. The organization is committed to providing a loving and nurturing environment for each dachshund, including elderly and injured dogs. Their foster homes also provide one-on-one attention to the animals. There are no age restrictions for adopting a rescued doxie, so you can rest assured that you’ll find a loving home with them.

Hope’s story is one of many stories of success.

In spite of her health challenges, she was eventually adopted and is now in good hands at GetALong Dachshund Rescue. Hodson, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner, personally supervised Hope’s progress in Club Chub. Liz Hodson is a passionate advocate of proper nutrition for all dogs, particularly obese ones. She personally supervised Hope’s progress in Club Chubb, where she learned to eat healthily and exercise.

Special needs dogs are particularly hard to care for. Their owners must provide them with ongoing therapy. The goal of Get Along Dachshund Rescue is to find the right homes for these animals. Every homeless dog is an opportunity to find a loving home and be happy. If you can adopt a disabled dog, you will be doing a great thing for your dog! Just don’t forget that municipal animal shelters are obligated to care for every pet, no matter how bad their situation.
