The Advantages of Getting a German Shepherd Aussie Mix Instead of a German Shepherd Pup
When you are considering adopting a German Shepherd or any other dog for that matter, you may have heard that they are very expensive dogs. This is true, but that doesn’t mean it has to stop you from getting one for your loved ones or even yourself. The cost of caring for a German Shepherd is not as costly as you think.
You can easily find a good breeder that will help you find the right dog at the right price. If you have the time, you can learn to make your own list of quality German Shepherd breeders in your area.
The American Shepherd, unlike the German Shepherd, is a purebred dog.
They were basically bred to be a companion/therapist. As they are bred to bond with humans, they are a great choice for those people who don’t want to have a dog that snarls or growls at them all the time. However, despite their friendly disposition, these dogs do cost quite a bit more than the German Shepherd. In fact, they can cost up to $500 depending on where you get the puppy from.
The Australian Shepherd or the German Shepherd mix, while smaller than the German Shepherd, is still very popular. They have cute pups that are great companions and have strong athletic bodies. As they are also very friendly toward children, they make wonderful family pets. These puppies cost between eight hundred and one thousand dollars, depending on the breeder. Of course, this doesn’t include the cost of immunizations or worming.
Another common mix in the market is Australian Shepherds and Yorkies.
The Australian Shepherd is half Australian and half Yorkshire terriers. As you can imagine, this makes them a cute mix of the two breeds. They cost around six hundred dollars and average about twenty pounds when they are born.
The third most popular is the Cairn Terrier and the Pyrenees. These are the best-selling shepherds out there. They have a beautiful silky, long coat that makes them a great companion dog. Aussies have a deep, mellow voice and make great watchdogs.
One last mix available for sale is the toy shepherd. These dogs are not often used as watchdogs, but instead are simply used as companions and show dogs. They only average about ten pounds and are sometimes called toy German shepherds.
However, they still make a lovely companion and are adorable with children. Because they are not used to guard, they are much easier to train and be housebroken than the other variations of the German shepherd.
If you have a German shepherd, whether it is a purebred or a German Shepherd mixed breed, you will want to consider buying a doggie sibling for your new canine friend.
Just because you got a German Shepherd puppy, you don’t have to get another. German Shepherds are very territorial, so if you want to raise two dogs together, you may have trouble raising one as a single dog. It can be difficult to leave the puppy in a small area with just one dog. Even if you get a German shepherd pup, you may find that the sibling needs to be leashed a lot more often than the puppy.
When raising a German shepherd, it is important to keep in mind that the breed is a medium-height breed and will grow to between eight and ten years old. Be sure that if you get a German shepherd pup, you have another dog that is big enough to take over guarding the pup if and when it grows up.
The American Kennel Club approves of the breeding of a German shepherd mix, but as with any hybrid, you must make sure that it will be a good match for your family and your dog. Although they are similar in character, they are still different in temperament and appearance. You will have many years of enjoyment with your new canine friend, but it’s just as important to do the necessary research so you can help your dog reach its full potential.
