The Green Country Welsh Corgi Rescue has given me my first experience of what a wonderful dog she is. I have been reading about her for the last few weeks and can honestly say that she is one of the cutest dogs I have ever owned. Her personality is just what I like in a dog, she is very friendly and is always up for a good game of fetch.

I have been reading about her for a while now and have many more questions than answers. What kind of dog are you talking about? Where did she come from? Why are there so many dogs in the shelter? It’s driving me crazy!

The Welsh Government is trying to do something about it and started a scheme to get dogs to be adopted by families who need them.

They wanted to make it easier for people in this area to have a dog and stop getting dogs overgrown and abandoned. This is a lovely area with a vibrant and creative young population. Unfortunately, it also had a lot of poor and unwanted dogs.

If you live in the Green Country area (Pembrokeshire in Scotland) then you may have seen the puppies sitting in the middle of the road or wandering around at night. I’ve seen them on television too. Some of these dogs were even mistreated. You can’t help but feel compassionate for these dogs and if you can, you’ll do anything to help. So the Welsh Government made contact with the rescue group and arranged a visit for a couple of days.

The volunteers were very pleased to see so many dogs and their owners.

They were all very happy and the owners were very excited to be there. When I asked the rescue group about the dogs they said that only one was alone and looked after by its foster family. So it was very reassuring to see that all the dogs were in good homes.

When I was there I saw two little girls going through the house with their parents, the girl’s mother and father. These dogs are not only loved by the people who adopt them, they are adored by the general public too. There were loads of children running around playing with the dogs. One of the dogs had a baby in her mouth and was breastfeeding her. These dogs are just so easy to love.

One of the dogs was wearing some pretty pink boots and had her owners put on a pair of pink ear clips.

I think she looked adorable and the look on her owner’s face when they came out of the house was priceless. I guess she was a lucky girl because one of her dogs was walking alongside her and was given a name, Sweet Pea. The other dog was a little shy but quickly learnt how to get along with other dogs, one of them was named Nelly, and she looked very cute.

They all seemed to be enjoying themselves so much, I think they would make great companions for kids. Nelly even snuggled up next to one of the little girls and they got to enjoy the TV, which was surprising, Nelly seemed quite lonely.
