If you see your pet moving his butt away from you while he is sitting, he may have an anal sac on or around his anal gland. This sac is a ball of fluid that protects the anal gland from drying out and makes it easier for him to move his stool. However, this fluid dries out when the dog doesn’t have enough of it. If the anal gland doesn’t have enough fluids to protect it, the sac will rupture. It will then leak the contents into the anal gland and cause it to become inflamed and swollen.
