Dachshund Petsmart Employee Suspended After Death of Dog
A San Mateo, California, pet store employee has been suspended after being accused of causing the death of a dachshund. Juan Zarate, a dachshund groomer, brought three dachshunds to the store to have their nails clipped. The incident occurred during a routine nail trim when the puppy began to struggle and bleed from his mouth. Upon seeing the blood, the on-site veterinarian rushed to the rescue and pronounced the dogs dead.
While the dog was able to survive the incident, it did not survive the experience. A veterinarian at Petsmart San Mateo was called to the scene after receiving a complaint from a dog owner. The San Mateo store had failed to remedy the problem, and the owners are suing the store for the death of their dachshund, Henry. The groomer was holding the dog, which was unresponsive. The veterinarian in the store and a veterinarian at the local emergency room were unable to revive the dog and the pet was pronounced dead.
The Dachshund has a great range of color choices, with both smooth and wirehaired versions available. Some owners prefer the longer-haired variety, which requires a lot of attention. This type of coat needs professional grooming to avoid tangling and matting. While longhaired dogs do not require much grooming, the wirehaired variety requires regular brushing and trimming.
Although the pet groomer failed to apologize for the accident, Henry’s owners were left without a way to see him again.
The investigation revealed that the owner of the store did not have a license to groom the dog. The dachshund was strangled to death. A post-mortem X-ray revealed that the dog had suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung. While Zarate has pleaded not guilty to the charges, prosecutors have not yet decided whether to file charges against him.
The incident is far from isolated. Various Dachshund Petsmarts have been the victims of several incidents. In one of these cases, the pet groomer killed Henry and his owner was subsequently sued for the wrongful death of her dog. A dachshund owner’s complaint against Petsmart was unable to be resolved and a lawsuit was filed. A lawsuit was filed against the store for failing to address complaints.
