Dachshund Oktoberfest
In the heart of Bavarian beer country, dachshunds dressed as hot dogs are proving a hit at the sixth annual Dachshund Oktoberfest. In Cincinnati, Ohio, the ‘running of the wieners’ dog race will take place on October 7. The mayor of Munich will tap the first keg of beer to kick off the festival, which is expected to draw six million spectators.
The event is a yearly tradition and features costumed pups in a variety of costumes. The event originally took place in October to celebrate a royal wedding. But it has become an important part of Bavarian culture since 1810 when it was first held in Munich. For the past few years, the Oktoberfest has become a popular party for dog owners and pet lovers alike. It’s also a great way to meet new people.
