Brazilian Mastiff Training Basics

The Fila Brasileiro or Brazilian Mastiff, also known as Brazilian Mastiff, is an excellent large working breed of dogs developed in Brazil. Its original name is Decemarrha Mastiff. The Mastiff breeds were crossed with the Bulldog, the Terrier, and the Mastiff. Today the Mastiff is most commonly used as a fighting dog.

The Mastiff retains its more placid temperament than other Mastiffs. However, like all Mastiffs, the Brazilian Mastiff has its share of aggression. However, you should have adequate training and socialization techniques to properly deal with the aggression of these dogs.

Proper socialization will enable your dog to become friendly towards humans and other animals, but not necessarily friendly to you.

This makes the dog much more difficult to housebreak. It can also be quite difficult to train a Brazilian Mastiff if you adopt a puppy. That’s because the puppy is used to being a guard dog and being around larger people and dogs. As a result, it is going to have some trouble adjusting to an owner who is a smaller person and who does not protect the dog as it was trained to do.

Training your Mastiff is going to involve obedience training. The most important thing to remember when training your Mastiff dog is that you must be consistent. Do not let the dog think that the command “sit” means the dog is going to just sit down and relax.

A regular schedule is the most important part of training your Mastiff.

You should train your dog every two or three hours. If you cannot tie a leash to the side of the house, then at least practice it while you are not home. When you work during the daytime, you may want to practice the obedience commands during the times when the dog is not actually working. That way the dog will get the idea that the command has to be said at specific times in certain situations.

When the time comes to train the Brazilian Mastiff puppy, there are some special techniques that you should use. First of all, the instructor needs to be with the puppy from start to finish. Communication is going to be very important when the puppy is young. That means you should always be with him at all times. Keep in mind that this type of training takes patience. This means that your Mastiff is not likely to completely learn any obedience commands in one lesson.

During the first training session, the instructor should use only a soft voice.

He should emphasize the positive reinforcement and praises the dog thoroughly. Eventually, the dog will become familiar with the voice and will come to expect it when he hears it. It will not be long before the dog will be able to receive praise and a treat for his behavior. When the training is complete, ensure that everyone in the family understands the rules of the training and make sure they observe the overall behavior of the dog.

The most common problem encountered with the Brazilian Mastiff dog is that they try to eat their owners. They tend to do this at strange times, like when the family is sleeping or when they are not around. If you notice this, you should quickly get your dog to his crate and block him from eating by taking him to his spot where he can have a rest and calm down.

You should make sure that he understands why you are doing this so that it will be less of a problem when he tries again. Also, keep in mind that Mastiffs are known for their power when it comes to barking.
